It was New York City in 1952 at Beekman Towers, eight college
service organizations came together at a constitutional convention for the purpose of forming a national service sorority.
Los Angeles City College, Drexel Institute of Technology, New York University, Queens College, Boston University, Brooklyn
College, University of Houston and University of Miami formed the first eight chapters of Gamma Sigma Sigma, National Service
Sorority. The name Gamma Sigma Sigma was chosen because Girls Service Sorority, abbreviated GSS, was commonly used by the
individual school organizations.
Over the last 55 years, Gamma Sigma Sigma has continued to function within the ideals of Service, Friendship, and
Equality expanding to nearly 50 schools across the nation, along with several alumni groups. Our membership continues to grow,
making Gamma Sig an exciting place for students to get involved with their school and their community. Our open membership
policy allows the student to choose us as an organization, thereby giving us a diverse background of talents and abilities
to employ.
The Epsilon Eta Chapter of Gamma Sigma Sigma was founded on the campus of Florida
Memorial College in April of 1972.Seventeen active members sought out in the spirit of friendship, service, and equality.Fifty-five
years later there are many campuses throughout United States still standing strong.
